Counselling and Psychotherapy
I have expertise in working with post-traumatic stress disorder, grief, depression, anxiety, phobias, eating disorders, personality disorders and addictions. While some difficulties may be severe enough to warrant a diagnosis, I don't believe in over-pathologising clients' complaints. If you feel that you are struggling with challenges in your life and don't know where to begin, therapy may be able to help.
Once we have a good understanding of what is troubling you, I will work with you to select the most appropriate treatment approach - taking into account your preferences and what the research tells us will be most effective. I am trained and experienced in several therapies, including:
Dialectical behaviour therapy
Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy
Acceptance and commitment therapy
While I have extensive training and experience in the treatment of mental health difficulties, I believe that nobody knows you better than you. My approach to therapy is therefore highly collaborative. I can share with you my knowledge of evidence-based treatment techniques and strategies, but it is you who sets the goals and pace for sessions.
